First Steps for Infant/Toddlers

For children 6 weeks through 2 years of age. Ample staff are on duty to meet the needs of infants and toddlers. Every effort is made to provide consistency between day care and home practices that are beneficial to the child. An observation system is established for infants in which notes are kept on the child and shared with parents on a daily basis. Activities that stimulate the senses and build foundations for social and language development are stressed. Toddlers take part in a variety of activities such as art, science, language, large motor development and music.

Pre-School Partners - Ages 3-4

Our pre-kindergarten program provides age-appropriate basic education in science, art, language, culture, and other curriculum areas. Daily activities are planned to promote self-esteem, creative expression, physical development and intellectual growth.

School-Age Program - Ages 5-13

Services are provided to the school-agers before and after school, on school off days, during vacations, and throughout the summer. Activities include help with homework, planned field trips, "A Company Called Me" program for girls ages 9-13, "All About Us" program for boys ages 9-13, movies, computers, art, and music.

Gray's Child Development Center has been state licensed since its founding in 1973, and gained nonprofit 501(c)(3) status in 1979. In 1994 Gray's became the 48th program in the State of Wisconsin to earn accreditation from the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs. Under the guidance of Bessie Gray, we have helped to develop over 8,000 young children and prepared them for success.

Bessie M. Gray Preparatory Academy

We have had a certified kindergarten program (beginning at age 4 1/2) for many years and have recently expanded to include the first through fourth grades. Full day classes are provided for all levels. The curriculum provides reading and writing opportunities that focus on meaningful learning experiences, rather than just abstract skill development. Play times are also enriched with reading- and writing like activities, with teachers interaction to guide these experiences and make them meaningful learning experiences.

Centers of Excellence

The centers has also created a "How To" manual on starting an early childcare center.  The manual is entitled: "Blueprints for Excellence" and the cost is $24.95 w/tax $26.35.
